Happy (Cold) New Year

School was cancelled last Friday because of the snow we had on Thursday night: about 1/3 of an inch. Not 13 inches, not 3 inches, not one inch. A third of an inch! (Note the green tint to the ground in the first picture, and the lack of any snow on the road in picture #2. )
The girls found it entertaining, though. B used a small pine branch to brush off the snow from our mailbox, and she had fun toting a chunk of ice that had frozen in a kiddie bowl .

M tried leaving footprints on the retaining wall in the backyard.
Most kids with a snow day come inside with wet gloves. My two had dirty gloves, because the dirt was directly under the patches of snow they tried to scoop off the ground. Well, it's only January. Hopefully we'll have another opportunity to play in the snow before winter's up.

  1. Seeing snow is always magical no matter if it is only a third of an inch! I love how perfectly dry the road is. Too funny. Snow Day must be the best two words in the English language for elementary aged kids.
